Near Australia on the seaward side of the Great Barrier Reef lived lots of sweet little fish. There were Angel Fish, Clown Fish, Parrot Fish, Spotted Fish, all kinds of sweet little fish, including an unusual little fellow, Red the Little Lantern Fish. God had made Little Red a bit different, in as much as he had a little lantern hanging from an appendage about 3 inches long that stood up above his head. It helped Little Red get around well at night.
Life was good and all the little fish were happy until the day some ferocious little fish-eating bad sharks moved into the area. The little fish were so scared they had to hide under rocks during the day and at night it was too dark to find food. The little fish were starving. They needed to get through the barrier reef to the safety of the peaceful lagoon on the other side.
Sharks were too big to get through the reef, but it was like a maze and the small fish didn’t know the way. Little Red Lantern fish said, “I know the way and I will lead you. Tonight when it’s too dark for the sharks to see, I will lead you through the reef maze to the safe lagoon, Just follow my little red light.
That night little Red led all of them through to safety and all were happy to be there. They couldn’t thank Little Red Lantern Fish enough. Reminds me of a song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine……”
