Silly Billy was born a little different. There was something about his vocal cords that caused him to laugh uncontrollably almost every time he opened his mouth. It was so difficult for Silly Billy to say anything past two or three words without putting out side-splitting laughter. When he played with his little mice friends, Silly Billy would laugh a lot and it was contagious. His little mice friends would laugh at him. Of course, Silly Billy was so silly he didn’t realize they were laughing at him just as much as they were laughing with him.
One day without warning Ivan the Terrible, a ferocious mouse-eating tiger cat, jumped out from behind a bush near where Silly Billy and his friends were playing. This didn’t give any of them a chance to run and hide. Ivan spied Silly Billy and said, “Yum, yum, a big fat one.” All the little mice pleaded for their lives, including Silly Billy who said, “Oh please, ha, ha, ha hee, hee. Oh Mr. ferocious tee hee, hee, ha, ha, cat, don’t, hee, hoo hoo, ha ho, eat me, oh hoo, hee, ha ha, hee tee hee.”
Well, Ivan didn’t know what to think about it. It seemed to him he was being put down and made a lot of fun of. Ivan lost his appetite and ran back to his mommy crying that a rat made fun of him.
Silly Billy and his little mice friends took that all in and the laughter filled the woods until all the creatures were rolling over laughing themselves silly. Mama Cat was so mortified she took Ivan and left the woods forever. Goes to show being a little different sometimes can be a good thing.
