Wibur Sasquatch was a Bigfoot. Those Bigfoot critters were called Sasqautch by the Indians. Sasquatchs were known for their great big feet, and nicknamed by some as a “Bigfoot.”
Wilbur lived in harmony with all the other woodland creatures. One very bad winter the snow was very deep. No one could get back and forth from their dens to the Woodland Grocery Store and Pharmacy except for Hooty the Owl and a few birds. But they couldn’t carry much. Consequently, everyone was hungry and not able to get much medicine for their young ones.
Wilbur was a big fellow and could carry a lot. His feet were so big they acted like snowshoes and the deep snow didn’t slow Wilbur down even a little bit. He transported all the food and things his fellow woodland creatures needed, and they were snug and safe thanks to Wilbur.
This was in the days before telephones and the winter was long. The woodland creatures had a hard time keeping in touch with each other and wished there was a way to communicate. Wilbur said, “Why not write letters to each other and I, with my snowshoe size feet, will deliver them?” Everyone was thrilled with that idea. So Wilbur delivered many letters and was beloved by all for it.
And that, folks, is how mail service got established in the Western United States. Hey, there’s always a first time for every thing. See if you can be first to do something nice.
